Journey of a CharacterLast week, we finished the novel study of The Giver. Yay! We combined the text version and the film version and analyzed the literary elements of the plot (setting, characters, main idea, etc). Students completed a study guide, which they can use to study for the test. They will take the comprehension test on Wednesday. This week, we will also analyze the journey of the main character throughout the plot of the novel. Students will write an Explanatory Essay to detail the changes in the character. Guidelines for the essay will be discussed in class. Students are encouraged to take notes as we analyze the character, so they can use them to develop their essay. This essay is a major grade and should be completed in class.
