Introducing Elements of Fiction: Jack and the Beanstalk
This week students will be learning elements in fiction and identifying them in a reading selection. As we read and discuss Jack and the Beanstalk, students will learn how elements of fiction interact to develop the plot of this wonderful fictional story. Students will identify the setting, including place and time and will complete a plot map.
Students will also and learn to cite evidence from the text to support claims from the story. They will work in small groups to identify character traits and find information to support the description of the characters in the text.
Additionally, students will use a double bubble map to compare and contrast the main character with themselves. On Friday, students will take a vocabulary quiz where they will apply the lesson vocabulary.
